One number that doesn't flatter you.
Every pouch, coffee, meal, walk, and hour of sleep you log rolls into a single 0–100 read on how steady your day actually is. Here is exactly how it's built, why a bad morning caps the day, and how you earn it back.
Steady, and in control.
Fuel first, load light, hours clear. This is what the number looks like when the day is yours.
Four bands
The colour is the same everywhere the score appears — in the app, on this site, in the beast.
Front-loaded, heavy, or both. The body is running on stimulation.
Productive, not regulated. Something in the pattern is still costing you.
Recovering or holding. The day is under control and climbing.
Fuel first, load light, hours clear. The pattern itself was clean.
What earns points
Points add up toward 100. Logging is the entry fee, deliberately worth less than what you actually did — an honestly logged heavy day should never outscore a lighter one.
| Factor | Points | What counts |
|---|---|---|
| Showing up | up to +10 | +4 for logging anything today, +3 once three entries make the pattern visible, +3 for a note on what was happening right before. |
| Fuel | up to +10 | +10 if a meal landed before your first pouch, coffee, or hit. +4 if you ate at all. The order matters more than the calories. |
| Movement | +8 | Any logged exercise. A 20-minute walk counts. |
| Sleep on record | +4 | Logging last night's sleep. The hours themselves feed the ceilings below. |
| Load vs. your own week | −15 to +10 | Today's chemical load against your trailing seven days. 30% under earns +10; 70% over costs −15. |
| Absolute load | −15 to +8 | Independent of your trend, because a heavy day is heavy even when it's normal for you. A clear day earns +8; 3+ costs −5, 5+ costs −10, 8+ costs −15. |
| Clear window | up to +8 | Waking hours since your last hit: +4 at three hours, +8 at six. Only counted between 8am and 10pm, so sleeping until 1am earns nothing. |
| Protocol | up to +10 | Today's 72-hour baseline tasks, pro rata. |
| Early stacking | −8 | A substance before 9am with no meal first. |
| No food all day | −8 | A day with chemical load and nothing eaten. |
The floor is 5. The score never reads zero, because a zero is shame, not information.
Ceilings: the honest part
Points alone would let a good afternoon quietly pay off a bad morning — a lunchtime walk offsetting a 6:52am pouch on an empty stomach. So the patterns that dysregulate a day don't just cost points. They cap it.
| Pattern | Ceiling | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Front-loaded | 65 | Stimulation before food, before 9am. The day started dysregulated. |
| Front-loaded on short sleep | 55 | The same, on under seven hours. Short sleep and an empty tank compound. |
| Ran on stimulation | 50 | Chemical load logged and no food at all. |
| Heavy load | 60 | Five or more today, whatever else went right. |
| Very heavy load | 45 | Eight or more. This sets the ceiling regardless. |
The lowest ceiling that applies is the one you get. Read at 8am after a pouch on an empty stomach, the number is honest about the start.
Recovery: the ceiling rises
The cap is where the day started, not where it has to end. Everything you do after the slip lifts it — and only after, so it can't be banked in advance.
Earned strictly after the last hit
- +2 per clean waking hour, up to +12. Counted between 8am and 10pm only.
- +4 for refuelling after the slip.
- +4 for moving after the slip.
A day with a slip in it maxes at 90. The 100 belongs to the day where the pattern itself was clean. That is the one thing recovery can't buy back, and the reason the top of the scale means something.
One day, in numbers
Same person, same pressure. Seven and a half hours of sleep, a pouch before breakfast, and a day that gets won back.
- 6:47 AMPouch before food.Front-loaded → ceiling 65. Early stacking −8. Read now: low points, capped.44
- 9:40 AMEggs and toast.Refuelled after the slip: +4 lift → ceiling 69. Fuel points land.58
- 1:15 PMTwenty-minute walk.Moved after the slip: +4 lift → ceiling 73. Movement +8. Three clean hours: +4.68
- 4:30 PMSkipped the 3pm pouch.Clean waking hours keep accruing at +2 each. Ceiling 81.76
- 8:15 PMSteady.Six clean hours (+12, the max) → ceiling 85. Clear window +8. The day is won back.85
That loop — slip, log it, win the day back — is the product. The score is strict so the recovery is real.
Questions people ask
Why did my score drop the moment I logged a pouch?
Because the load became visible. The number was already true; now it knows. Your honesty streak (days logged in a row) is protected either way — a logged slip keeps it, silence breaks it.
Can I get back to 100 after a slip?
Not that day. A day with a slip in it tops out at 90, however well it ends. 100 is reserved for a day whose pattern was clean from the start. Tomorrow is a new day and a new ceiling.
Why does the number stop moving at night?
Clean hours only count while you're awake, 8am to 10pm. Otherwise "thirteen hours clear" at 1am would mostly be sleep, not restraint, and the score would drift upward for no reason.
Does it compare me to other people?
No. Your load is judged against your own trailing week and against universal thresholds for what a heavy day does to a body. Nobody else's data is in your number.
Is this a medical measurement?
No. These are coaching heuristics — a shared, strict standard applied honestly — not clinical scores. SteadyBeast is a coaching tool for adults, not a diagnosis or a replacement for medical care.
